About Us
Hello, my name is Papa Joe, and I am the owner of Papa Joe's Local Honey, a small family beekeeping operation based in Loveland, Colorado.
50+ Years of Experience: I have been interested in beekeeping for over 50 years.
The Early Days (Loveland): I started keeping hives on 7th Street in Loveland but had to cease operations due to neighbor complaints and a negative response from the city council.
Advocacy & Change: Following that experience, local beekeepers successfully banded together to:
Get laws enacted to allow beekeeping statewide.
Pass "cottage industry" laws that permit small producers to sell their homegrown products at local farmers' markets without restrictive regulation.
Current Locations: We have since moved our bees to safe foothills locations and friends' acreages west of town, near the Thompson River.
What started as keeping enough honey for myself and my family has grown into sharing this amazing food with expanding neighbors and new friends.
A Unique Superfood: Honey is the only food that naturally lasts for hundreds of years.
Health Properties: Our local, fresh varieties offer many benefits, including:
Antioxidant properties.
Antibacterial properties.
Potential help with local allergies.
Taste the difference: Come and taste what honey is supposed to taste like and reap the benefits of locally sourced honey.
We make it easy for you to get the highest quality honey with our unique setup:
Operation: Our farm stand runs 24/7 on the honor system.
How it Works:
Select your desired honey from our chest.
Place the appropriate money in an envelope.
Deposit the envelope into the mail slot on the front door.
Avoid Dilution: Almost 50% of store-bought honey is diluted with corn or filler syrup.
Buy the Real Deal: Don't waste your hard-earned money on a diluted product. Choose Papa Joe's for genuine, high-quality local honey—it is worth the price!
