Hello, my name is Papa Joe, and I am the owner of Papa Joe's Local Honey, a small family beekeeping operation based in Loveland, Colorado.

A Lifelong Passion for Beekeeping

• 50+ Years of Experience: I have been interested in beekeeping for over 50 years.

• The Early Days (Loveland): I started keeping hives on 7th Street in Loveland but had to cease operations due to neighbor complaints and a negative response from the city council.

• Advocacy & Change: Following that experience, local beekeepers successfully banded together to:

  • Get laws enacted to allow beekeeping statewide.

  • Pass "cottage industry" laws that permit small producers to sell their homegrown products at local farmers' markets without restrictive regulation.

• Current Locations: We have since moved our bees to safe foothills locations and friends' acreages west of town, near the Thompson River.
